Malaysia Manufacturing PMI Slips To 47.6 In July - Markit

The manufacturing sector in Malaysia continued to contact, and at a faster rate, the latest survey from Markit Economics revealed on Thursday with a manufacturing PMI score of 47.6.

That's down fractionally from 47.8 in June, and it moves further beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Individually, an increase in external demand lifted the output index, while businesses remained optimistic towards the year ahead.

Input prices continued to rise, propped up by unfavorable exchange rate variation as well as reports of increased charges from suppliers and greater utility costs.
