The jobless rate in Australia came in at a seasonally adjusted 5.1 percent in February, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday - beneath expectations for 5.3 percent, which would have been unchanged from the January reading.
The Australian economy added 26,700 jobs last month, beating forecasts for an increase of 6,300 jobs following the gain of 13,500 jobs in January.
Full-time employment increased 6,700 to 8,884,600 persons and part-time employment increased 20,000 to 4,130,600 persons.
The participation rate was 66.0 percent - missing expectations for 66.1 percent, which would have been unchanged.
Monthly hours worked in all jobs decreased 3.0 million hours to 1,775.4 million hours.
