At 2.00 am ET Tuesday, the Office for National Statistics releases UK public sector finance data. The budget deficit is forecast to narrow to GBP 34.3 billion in June from GBP 54.5 billion in May.
Ahead of the data, the pound climbed against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 136.06 against the yen, 1.1902 against the franc, 0.9027 against the euro and 1.2673 against the greenback as of 1:55 am ET.
