Malaysia's Consumer Prices Fall At Slower Pace

Malaysia's consumer prices fell for the fifth straight month in July but the annual pace of decrease slowed further, data from the Department of Statistics showed Tuesday.

Consumer prices declined 1.3 percent from last year, but slower than the 1.9 percent decrease seen in June. The annual fall was largely driven by the weakness in transportation cost.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained 0.7 percent in July.

During January to July period, consumer prices fell 0.9 percent from the same period last year.
